Wound Care Center
HSC Medical Center has a Wound Care Center that is staffed with a team consisting of physicians and nurses who are trained in hyperbaric medicine. The center will offer unique outpatient services to patients with chronic and complex problem healing wounds. Many wounds require special care to heal. The following wounds can be effectively treated: diabetic wounds, pressure ulcers, osteomyelitis, arterial ulcers, radiation necrosis, and other non-healing wounds.
Based on individual requirements, treatment options for wounds may include hyperbaric oxygen therapy, compression therapy, vacuum assisted closure, therapeutic application of growth factors, and artificial skin grafting. The HSCMC Wound Care Center houses a hyperbaric oxygen therapy chamber– the first available in Hot Spring County. This therapy allows significantly more amounts of oxygen to be dissolved in the bloodstream to improve and accelerate the healing process. There is no discomfort during hyperbaric treatment; patients can rest, watch TV or sleep while they receive their care.
